IOWA BLUES HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

Harlan Thomas
1999 Inductee

I started playing keyboards in 1958. My teacher was internationally known recording artist, Speck Redd. I played private parties of all types from 1958 to 1963. I joined the Soul Brothers in 1964, and we played all over the Midwest until around 1972.

When I was with the Soul Brothers, we closed Center Street down in 1970.

Center Street was a landmark for black clubs and entertainment known all over the world. I then joined the Platinum Blues Band from 1986 to 1993. Since then, I have played various things like a one-man band, and two and three man bands. I also sing in the church choir.
